Women Techmakers Scholars Program APAC 2020

What is Women Techmakers?

Google's Women Techmakers program provides visibility, community, and resources for women in technology. Women Techmakers(WTM) community spreads over the world. We also have one community in our own city, Kolkata - Women Techmakers Kolkata  

                                       


What is the Women Techmakers Scholars Program?
Through the Women Techmakers Scholars Program(WTSP) formerly known as the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program, Google is furthering Dr. Anita Borg's vision of creating gender equality in tech. industry by encouraging women to excel as active participants and leaders in the field.

About WTMSP APAC :
A group of female undergraduate students will be chosen from the pool of applicants and the scholarship will be awarded based on the strength of each applicant's passion for technology, demonstrated leadership, and academic background. All scholarship recipients will be granted a scholarship amount and invited to participate in a host of programs at Google (APAC region). Last year(2019) it was held in Google's Singapore office. These programs will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow scholars, network with Googlers, and participate in a number of learning sessions.  

Important Notes :

  • In 2020, the WTMSP will only be open for year 1 and year 2 undergraduate female students.
  • WTMSP is primarily open for students studying in Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, and India.
  • For students from all other regions in the Asia Pacific, across undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels, they have a host of other programs at Google that better align to local market nuances and needs. So we request you all to Sign Up Here for these programs.

 To be eligible to apply to WTMSP, applicants must :
  • Must be identified as female.
  • Currently, be enrolled at an accredited university for the 2020-2021 academic year.
  • Currently, be an undergrad/bachelor's program student in year 1 or year 2 only.
  • Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Having a good academic record and a passion for technology.
Application and Selection Process :

To be selected one has to go through two steps.

STEP 1: Form Fill Up

The entire application form splits into three sections.

Section I: Here one has to give her personal information.

Section II: Here one has to give her current academic information.   

 Section III: Here one will be given two essay type questions. One can write it at the respective given fields or can upload a youtube video link of her answer. At last one has to upload her updated resume link.

STEP 2: Interview Round

This is the last step to get selected and also the most important step. After the selection of your application, you will get an email to confirm your interview date and time. On that specified date, you will get a call from a Googler who will ask you some questions based on your application filled by you at the first step. In most cases, this is a 40-45 minute interview session.
