TCS DIGITAL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE - 2021 BATCH

Hello everyone, I'm Utsav Akash Naskar from Bengal Institute of Technology (Techno India Group) - Computer Science & Engineering Department. TCS had organized it's Digital drive during October for premium colleges across India and I took part in this drive and got offer from them. So, today I'm going to share my experience here.

There were three rounds in this drive.

  1. Aptitude  Round
  2. Coding Round
  3. Interview Round
Aptitude Round:
  • Mode: Online
  • Platform: TCS Platform
  • Duration: 40 mins
This round was divided into two sections - General Aptitude and Verbal. For each section we had 15 questions and 20 mins time to solve them. Each question had 2 marks and there was negative marking too - for each wrong answer 0.8 marks. It was conducted on 3rd October, 2020.
I was able to solve 7/ 15 general aptitude and 12/ 15 verbal questions correctly and I skipped other questions as I wasn't sure about the answers.

Coding Round:
  • Mode: Online
  • Platform: TCS Codevita Platform
  • Duration: 1 hr
This round had two coding questions. There were some restrictions too. If you don't solve the first question, the second question will not be revealed to you. For each program you will get only 5 chances to compile + run  i.e. if you compile and run the program then you will left with 3 chances. After 5 chances you won't be allowed to compile or run your program. It was conducted on 4th October, 2020.
I was able to solve both the coding problems.

On 9th October, 2020 evening they had declared the result and I was one among the selected candidates and my interview was scheduled on the very next day i.e. on 10th October, 2020.

Interview Round:
  • Mode: Online
  • Platform: Microsoft Teams (Link was shared by my HR day before the interview)
  • Duration: 1 hr
My HR called me at 10 am to join the meeting within 15 mins. Before took part in this drive we had to apply for it on their TCS NextStep portal and there we had to upload our all details including resume, certificates etc.. TCS interview consists of there rounds - Technical, Managerial and HR so there were three interviewers.
The interview had started with morning greetings and went as follows:

[Asked to place my any Govt. ID beside my face and look into the camera to identify whether I'm the interviewee or not]
  • Introduce yourself
  • In my resume I had mentioned all my achievements including Governor Award and President Award so they were interested to know more about those and asked me about those achievements.
  • Question on my projects. [Note: Try to mention all your projects no matter how small they are. Some students don't mention all their projects just because those increase the number of pages but that doesn't matter at all.]
  • They gave me a problem statement and asked me if they want me to develop an application against that problem then what features will be there and why?
  • Asked about my certifications. [My certifications were not mentioned in my resume as I got my certificates after applying for the drive, so I told them about this and they asked me to show them. As it was e-certificate, I had shared my screen to show my certificates. If you have hard copy then keep them handy.]
  • Why you want to join TCS?
  • Do you have any plan for higher studies?
  • What is GitHub and Stack Overflow?
  • Do you have any idea about cloud?
  • Explain cloud. [as I answered I have basic knowledge about cloud]
  • Difference between Deep Learning and Machine Learning.
  • My performance in Codevita. [answer honestly because they will have your codevita result with them. I was unable to solve any question in codevita so I replied 'No'.]
  • How I'm spending lock-down period? [I mentioned all the new things that I have learnt during that period]
  • Do you have any problem regarding relocation and shifts?
  • Do you have any question for us? [I asked about feedback]
Note: Please keep your phone handy and try to attend all the unknown numbers because one of TCS representative called me at 6 pm on the same day and asked me about my interview- whether I have done with my interview or not and about my education qualification e.g. my class 10 and 12 percentages, CGPA, active backlogs etc.

On 19th October, 2020 I got my selection mail.
Hope you will find this helpful. Best of luck for TCS and other upcoming interviews. If you have any question then feel free to comment here I'll try to answer all.

  1. what was the mail regarding the interview call after clearing the digital coding round. Did they mention that you have cleared the tcs digital round or is was simply you have been invited for the tcs nqt interview? I received my interview call as tcs nqt interview . I had solved all the 2 questions completely. can you clear this for me?

    1. I got my offer from Digital Drive which was conducted by TCS for premium colleges across India. They had sent a list of students who had cleared the first two rounds to our Training and Placement Officer. They had sent me a congratulation mail with the details of documents that I need to keep during my interview and the details of my HR Manager. After that email, I had got another mail and that was from my HR Manager containing the interview meet link.
